Christine Tobin goes beyond traditional insurance placement to solve complex and evolving client challenges. Chris Franki, president of the Insurance Buyers Council (IBC), said that while IBC does not place insurance directly, it depends on brokers with strong underwriting relationships. One of IBC’s real estate clients — an institutional investor managing more than $4 billion in assets — chose Tobin to oversee property and liability.

Initially, placing property, GL and umbrella coverage posed few difficulties. Over time, however, the client’s risk profile became more complicated. The investor relied on a third-party property manager to operate its assets. While the manager was insured under the owner’s GL policy and contractually required to maintain cyber, E&O, EPLI, and crime coverage, the owner depended heavily on that external insurance, with the owner and advisors named as additional insureds.

Concerns eventually surfaced regarding coverage gaps and delays, particularly around cyber. Working with IBC, Tobin sought a standalone cyber solution for the owner. Tobin identified a London-based cyber underwriter willing to explore a new approach. Collaborating closely, the team developed a custom policy form that addressed the client’s unique needs and closed critical gaps.

The resulting coverage, Franki noted, is truly unique in the industry. He credits Tobin’s rare breadth of expertise across property, pollution, cyber, and E&O, as well as her humility and unwavering focus on client service.
