ACORD, the insurance industry’s global standards-setting body, announced the appointment of John Kellington as chief executive officer.

“We are at a pivotal moment for insurance technology, and success will depend on how well data moves,” Kellington said. “ACORD is at the center of this, providing the framework and standards that form the foundation. I’m honored to take on this role at ACORD, where I will be working with a talented and dedicated community who are making a meaningful difference in the digital future of our industry.”

Kellington’s appointment marks his return to ACORD, where he previously served as senior vice president of standards development, information technology, corporate finance and membership from 2007 to 2010. During that tenure, he was instrumental in developing the ACORD Reference Architecture, a framework that dramatically improved the insurance industry’s technical capabilities. He most recently served as executive vice president and chief information officer at Cincinnati Insurance, where he transformed the company’s IT operations using an ACORD architecture-led model.

ACORD has served the insurance community for more than 55 years as its globally recognized standards development organization. &
