Origami Risk Announces David Duden as Strategic Relationships Executive

Origami Risk, an insurance Software as a Service (SaaS) technology firm, announced David Duden as the strategic relationships’ executive in the firm’s Core Solutions division.

Duden is responsible for account management, business and product development.  Core Solutions clients include risk pools, third party administrators, property/casualty insurance companies, managing general agents, and entities with large self-administered workers’ compensation plans.

Duden has more than thirty years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. Most recently, he was the managing director and RMIS Practice leader at Deloitte Consulting LLP.

“As insurers, TPAs, MGAs, risk pools and large self-insurers work to navigate an increasingly complex operating environment, many now recognize that technology-based solutions, such as those provided  by Origami, can deliver the versatility, efficiencies and added value that are critical for them to achieve sustainable growth and success,” said Chris Bennett, president of Origami Risk’s Core Solutions division.

David has worked closely with complex insurance and risk management clients, delivering several breakthrough innovations. He co-founded the DAVID Corporation in 1985, launched the RMIS/Lab in 1996, and developed Safety Analytics in 2008.

Drinker Biddle Adds New Partner in Hartford Office

Drinker Biddle & Realth announced the addition of Adam Masin, partner, to their Hartford office.  Masin will going the firm’s products liability and mass torts group. He joins from Shipman & Goodwin.

Masin has twenty years of experience in pharmaceutical and medical device liability cases. His portfolio consists of counseling clients on product liability, medical negligence and commercial litigation disputes. He also advises companies on Food & Drug Administration limitations.

“Adam is a strong addition to our national products liability and mass torts practice,” said Andrew C. Kassner, chairman and CEO. “His significant industry experience will be an asset to our pharmaceutical, medical device and health care clients, and we are excited to welcome him in Hartford.”

Sarah Stephens Named Head of Cyber, Marsh JLT Specialty

Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser, has appointed Sarah Stephens as the newest head of cyber, International within Marsh JLT Specialty.

Based in London, she will report to Flavio Piccolomini, President of Marsh’s International division and Paul Denny, CEO, UK FINPRO Practice, Marsh JLT Specialty.

“Cyber risk poses a constant and critical threat to the businesses and livelihoods of our clients. Sarah is a true innovator and has led the development of many pioneering initiatives in the cyber insurance market. She will play a pivotal role in delivering the next generation of insurance solutions clients need to help mitigate cyber risk and capitalize on the exciting opportunities new and emerging technologies present,” said Piccolomini.

This role is newly enacted. Stephens will head the development and delivery of cyber insurance and placement capabilities across the business’s ventures outside of North America. She will work closely with Marsh’s regional cyber risk experts to develop integrated risk and advisory services.

Prior to joining Marsh in 2015, Stephens spent 12 years with Aon.

“While more and more organizations regard cyber as a top risk issue, many still lack confidence in their ability to respond to a major cyber incident effectively or do not have appropriate cyber insurance in place,” added Stephens. “I look forward to working with our colleagues around the world to further develop our cyber risk and insurance capabilities to enable help our clients meet these challenges.”

Transcom Solutions Adds Stephen Rios to Team

Transcom Solutions, a transportation and translation service for injured workers, announced that Stephen Rios has joined the team as director of business development.

Transcom is the industry leader in its unique services, and Rios will be responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships within the southern United States, including Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama, as well as executing sales and marketing strategies.

Rios brings over 20 years of experience within the sales, marketing, and account management arenas of the workers’ compensation healthcare industry. He most recently served as vice president of client services for Orchid Medical.

Rios is based in Braselton, Georgia.

SterlingRisk Announces Geraldine DelPrete as President of Programs

SterlingRisk Insurance announced the promotion of Geraldine DelPrete to president of programs. DelPrete joins with background in reinsurance/underwriting and deep understanding of programs that has directly contributed to growth.

“Soon after joining SterlingRisk little more than a year ago, Geraldine moved us in a new direction that continues to prove highly successful to our organization and equally beneficial to our clients,” observed CEO David Sterling.

“Her strategic decision to add an alternative markets platform and reinsurance broker platform has secured impressive results in our key business, including retail and hospitality. Under her direction we have relaunched our real estate program and expanded our other offerings, including the recently-launched Sterling Architects & Engineers.”

Prior to joining SterlingRisk in 2018 as Director of Programs, Senior Vice President, DelPrete joined SterlingRisk as Director of Programs, Senior Vice President in 2018.

Her reinsurance career began at Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, where she held multiple positions over a twelve-year period.

Ames & Gough Announces Matt Gough as President and Brett Gough as Chief Operating Officer

Ames & Gough, insurance broker and risk management consultant, has announced the appointment of Matt Gough as president and Brett Gough as chief operating officer. Dan Knise, chief executive officer, has been given the additional role as chair.

Matt Gough will be responsible for the firm’s day-to-day operations and continue to oversee Washington, DC operations. He joined the firm in 2001.

 Brett Gough will assist Matt Gough while focusing on firm-wide sales, marketing and client service. In addition to his new appointment as chief operating officer, he will retain the title of executive vice president and will continue to manage the firm in Boston. He joined the firm Ames & Gough in 1995.

As chair and chief executive officer, Knise will focus on the firm’s strategy, future initiatives, and continue to work directly with some clients.

“During their careers, Matt and Brett both have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities marked by numerous managerial accomplishments, effective colleague mentoring and development, and strong performance results driven by a shared commitment to excellent client service,” said Knise, who is being succeeded as president by Matt Gough.

RT Specialty Acquires Aleksander Soriano

RT Specialty has named Aleksander Soriano as an account administrator within its Environmental and Construction Professional (ECP) Practice.

Soriano will work alongside the company’s senior executives to provide agents, brokers and their clients across the country.

He will be based out of Hamilton, New Jersey.
