Mosaic Announces Two New Hires

Mosaic Insurance continues to build their U.S. transactional liability team with two new hiring announcements.

Katherine Spenner, senior vice president, chief legal officer, M&A, Mosaic

Stavan Desai, senior vice president, M&A team leader, Mosaic

Stavan Desai is joining Mosaic as senior vice president, M&A team leader, and Katherine Spenner has been named senior vice president, chief legal officer, M&A.

In his new role, Desai will lead the North America underwriting team.

Prior to his appointment, he served as a senior underwriter for AIG where he worked on transactional risk insurance for M&A transactions.

In her role, Spenner will primarily work to foster “innovative and consistent underwriting execution across the M&A insurance portfolio at Mosaic,” a press release announcing the appointments said.

She most previously served as a senior transactional risk insurance underwriter for Everest Insurance.

“Stavan and Katherine bring impressive track records and expertise in the M&A sphere, and we’re delighted to welcome them to Mosaic,” said William Monat, global head of M&A for Mosaic.

“Highly skilled and thoughtful execution is critical in the M&A insurance sector, and they each bring deep expertise that will be instrumental to our success as we build our transactional risk business.”

Hiscox Names Global Head of Diversity & Inclusion

Hiscox announced the hiring of Erica Fletcher as global head of diversity & inclusion (D&I).

In this role, Fletcher will be responsible for overseeing the enhancement of Hiscox’s formal D&I program that began in 2017.

Fletcher joins Hiscox with the goal of creating a more inclusive organization.

Prior to her hiring with Hiscox, Fletcher worked at Avanade where she also held a global D&I leadership role.

“Erica brings great experience and vision to help us build on our D&I foundations and allow everyone who works here to be comfortable being themselves and have the opportunity to thrive whatever their background, or how they choose to live their lives,” said Kate Markham, chief executive of the Hiscox London market and the executive sponsor of Hiscox’s D&I program.

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty Names Regional Head of Property

Jenise Klein, regional head of property, North America, AGCS

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty appointed Jenise Klein as regional head of property, North America.

Klein first joined Allianz in 2015, where she worked as a member of the alternative risk transfer team as head of underwriting governance and coordination.

Before joining Allianz, she worked with Zurich Insurance Company as an underwriter in both primary casualty business and the strategic risk solutions group.

“Jenise is a seasoned leader who is well respected by colleagues, clients and peers and brings a breadth of results-driven insurance and reinsurance experience to her new role,” said Bill Scaldaferri, president and CEO, AGCS North America.

CAC Specialty Hires Several Power and Renewables Executives

CAC Specialty announced the hiring of Susan Garrard as executive vice president of power & renewables, Marc Toy as executive vice president of power & renewables and Jeff Rhoades as senior vice president of power & renewables. All hires will work within CAC Specialty’s natural resources division.

Garrard brings nearly 15 years of industry experience to CAC Specialty. Prior to her appointment, she served as a managing director of Beecher Carlson’s global energy practice.

Toy brings over 15 years of power, renewable and utilities industry experience to CAC Specialty. He most recently worked with Beecher Carlson as senior vice president of their global energy practice.

Rhoades joins CAC Specialty with 10 years of insurance and risk management experience. Prior to his appointment, he worked as senior vice president of Beecher Carlson’s global energy practice.

PartnerRe Announces New Appointment to Board of Directors 

António Horta-Osório, board of directors, PartnerRe

PartnerRe Ltd. announced the appointment of António Horta-Osório as an independent director to its board of directors.

Joining the board of directors, Horta-Osório will also be named chairman of the investment committee as well as a member of the underwriting and risk committee.

He is currently serving as the chairman of the Credit Suisse Board.
