Non-executive Board Director Added at Mt. Logan Re

Charles E.F. Millard, non-executive independent board director, Mt. Logan Re

Mt. Logan Re, Everest Re Group’s third-party capital unit, has appointed Charles E.F. Millard as a non-executive independent board director, succeeding Frank Lopapa who is retiring.

Millard has over 25 years of experience across advisory, banking and the public sector and has served in leadership roles at Citigroup, U.S. Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, BP Direct Securities, Lehman Brothers, and New York City Economic Development Corporation.

“Charles brings … extensive knowledge of how institutional investors and pension plans evaluate and monitor investment strategies,” said John Modin, president of Mt. Logan.

Millard added, “I hope my experience working with chief investment officers at large global allocators adds value to support continued growth across the platform.” Modin thanked Lopapa for his significant contribution over nearly four decades with both Everest and Mt. Logan.

XPT Specialty Brings on VP and Broker

XPT Specialty has appointed Catrina Williams as vice president and broker in its commercial lines division, based in Texas.

Williams brings nearly three decades of experience in the wholesale property and casualty insurance sector and previously served as vice president at Select Risk Services.

Her specialties and background are in construction, energy, transportation, manufacturing, marine, habitational and hard-to-place risks — all of which she will use in her new role.

“I am proud to pair my expertise, enthusiasm, and knowledge with XPT’s market access and reputation as we work toward growth and continue to expand XPT’s presence throughout the U.S.,” Williams said.

The Hilb Group Welcomes New CFO

Aida Sukys, CFO, The Hilb Group

The Hilb Group, a property and casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage and advisory firm headquartered in Richmond, Va., has appointed Aida Sukys as chief financial officer. In this position, Sukys will serve on the senior executive team and lead the financial initiatives of the company.

“I am excited to join a company with such a strong record of growth, as well as the potential for even greater successes ahead,” Sukys said. “I look forward not only to building on the business and operational results, but also to continuing the culture of innovation for the future.”

Reporting directly to Hilb Group CEO Ricky Spiro, Sukys will play a key role, with oversight for the finance and accounting functions, including leading the strategy and implementation for investment, budget, financial regulatory and related activities.

Prior to joining Hilb Group, Sukys spent more than 25 years in senior financial roles with Willis Towers Watson as global head of financial operations and CFO of corporate risk and broking. Most recently, she served as CFO of Washington, D.C.-based Interos.

Skyward Specialty Welcomes Captives Expert Robert Nizzi

Skyward Specialty Insurance Group has appointed Robert Nizzi as the senior vice president to lead its captives division.

Nizzi’s career spans more than 30 years in the captives market. He recently served as SVP of sales at Innovative Captives Strategies and held presidential roles at Enterprise Risk Strategies and Power Group.

Two CEOs Appointed as Fusion Specialty

Katherine Simmonds, CEO, Fusion Specialty, International

Michael Federer, CEO, Fusion Specialty, North America

Fusion Specialty, a global boutique M&A and specialty insurance services group, has promoted Michael Federer to CEO, Fusion Specialty North America, and Katherine Simmonds to CEO, Fusion Specialty, International.

Federer, a former corporate attorney with over 18 years of experience, will continue developing Fusion’s M&A insurance product suite in North America.

 

Simmonds, who led Fusion’s business growth across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, will focus on Fusion’s expansion in the UK, APAC and EMEA regions.

AAIS Appoints New President and CEO

The American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) has appointed Werner E. Kruck as president and CEO, effective June 26.

Kruck, with over 45 years of insurance industry experience, has held executive roles in companies including Security First Managers, American Modern Insurance Group, Markel Corporation, and American International Underwriters. He has served on the AAIS Board since 2018.

Kruck succeeds Ed Kelly, who led AAIS for over 11 years.

AAIS chairperson David Duclos said Kruck’s “vast insurance background” and unique knowledge of AAIS made him the “obvious choice.” &
