Boost Insurance Appoints Chief Underwriting Officer

Emy Donovan, chief underwriting officer, Boost Insurance

Insurance infrastructure platform Boost appointed Emy Donavan as chief underwriting officer.

Donavan joins Boost from Fin Capital, where she was a venture partner.

Donavan will oversee Boost’s program underwriting, product development, and portfolio management in collaboration with the company’s Insurtech and embedded partners, according to a press release.

She will also be responsible for the development and execution of Boost’s reinsurance and risk capital markets strategy.

For over 20 years, Donavan has served in multiple senior underwriting executive roles including chief underwriting officer for Resilience and global head and chief underwriting office of cyber, tech, and media at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (ACGS).

“Emy is a highly accomplished senior insurance executive with a proven record of leading the development and execution of complex P&C programs while consistently delivering profitable underwriting returns,” Boost’s CEO and founder Alex Maffeo said.

INSTANDA Hires New Chief Financial Officer

Liz Prior, chief financial officer, INSTANDA

No-code insurance platform INSTANDA has appointed Liz Prior to serve as chief financial officer.

Prior joins INSTANDA as the organization aims to expand its geographical presence in Europe, U.S., Japan, and the UAE.

In her new role, Prior will be responsible for “optimizing the business, developing finance and business strategies that further strengthen INSTANDA’s growth,” according to a press release.

Recognized as a qualified actuary, Prior has worked in the insurance industry for more than 13 years. Most recently, she was managing director at Hiscox Insurance Company Guernsey.

“Liz will be a tremendous addition to the INSTANDA business. Her proven leadership, outstanding technical ability and exceptional commercial judgement will be integral to our expansion plans,” Tim Hardcastle, CEO and co-founder of INSTANDA, said.

FM Global Names Head of Global Middle Market Division, AFM

Ziad Alex S. Tadmoury, senior vice president, division manager of AFM, FM Global

FM Global has appointed Ziad Alex S. Tadmoury as senior vice president, division manager of AFM, which specializes in insuring middle market clients around the world.

Tadmoury has been with FM Global since 1989 when he joined as a reinsurance claims analyst. Since then, he has held numerous positions, including deputy director of FM Global’s construction and international power units, based in London, and operations senior vice president, operations manager based in Paris.

Most recently, Tadmoury served as senior vice president and FM Global’s Asia Pacific division manager out of Singapore.

His new role will be based out of AFM’s corporate offices in Johnston, Rhode Island. He succeeds Gerry L. Alonso who retired in July 2022 after 37 years of service with FM Global.

Outside of FM Global, Tadmoury also worked with Hannover Re in Athens, Greece.

Tokio Marine HCC – Public Risk Group Names New Chief Operating Officer 

Tokio Marine HCC – Public Risk Group has appointed Megann Kellom to chief operating officer. She will report to the group’s president, Christopher Skarinka.

“Megann brings extensive insurance experience, public sector knowledge and operational acumen to Tokio Marine HCC – all of which will benefit the Public Risk group as we deepen our innovation strategy and accelerate our territorial expansion,” Skarinka said.

Kellom has worked in the insurance industry for more than 20 years. Most recently, she served as president of the public entities group at Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions where she held various executive and operational leadership during her tenure.

Kellom’s experience also includes actuarial roles at Arch, Liberty Mutual and Safeco. She is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

RT Specialty Promotes Senior Account Manager Daniel Wilhelm

Daniel Wilhelm, senior account manager, environmental and construction professional practice, RT Specialty

RT Specialty’s Environmental and Construction Professional Practice (RT ECP) has promoted Daniel Wilhelm to senior account manager. Since 2018, he has been responsible for supporting the new business, marketing, and client renewal efforts of the team’s senior management, according to a press release.

“Dan has dedicated himself to learning this very complex industry and the many lines of coverage available to our clients based throughout much of the United States” says Joseph Reynolds, senior vice president, RT ECP. “As a result, he’s gained the trust and respect of our agents as well as the entire organization at every level.”

Prior to joining the RT ECP team, Wilhelm held managerial positions within the insurance, investment, and banking sectors.

Along with formerly working at JPMorgan Chase, he served as a commercial lines account manager with the Anderson Insurance Agency, direct manager for State Farm Insurance, and district team leader and financial advisor for the McAdam Financial Group.

Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers Awards Scholarship to MJ Insurance Intern

The Council Foundation, a charitable educational organization instituted by the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year to Julia Patras, learning and development summer intern at MJ Insurance.

Patras is one of 75 college students across the country who received a Council Foundation scholarship this year as part of the organization’s core mission to bring fresh, diverse talent to the commercial insurance brokerage business.

During her internship at MJ Insurance, Patras assisted with documenting department processes and building e-learning modules for associate onboarding, according to a press release. She also worked with human resources on employee relation matters such as exit interviews.

Funded by Assurex Global Ashlock Game Changer Scholarship and paid through the Council Foundation, the scholarship Patras received will be applied to her senior year at Depauw University, where she will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

“Julia’s work was invaluable, and her capstone project was especially impressive,” president and COO of MJ Insurance, Jon Loftin said.

“Her final presentation applied her psychology studies to expound on the importance of leadership, measuring and developing emotional intelligence for business success. Her recommendations as to how we can further support our leaders and associates in developing this skillset will be utilized for many years to come.” &
