Hylant Hires Insurance Veteran Paul Tanner
Hylant announced the expansion of its family office practice and the hiring of personal insurance veteran Paul Tanner.
Tanner is a certified advisor of personal insurance (CAPI) and a Wharton School of Business graduate. He is set to lead the practice based in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The family office practice is positioned to advise affluent families in managing their personal and commercial assets under one roof.
“Hylant, since our inception in 1935, has remained focused on identifying expansion opportunities and supporting individual and business insurance needs. We’ve worked with family offices for more than 15 years, experienced change in the complexities of their intricate risks and the fluidity of domestic and international market appetites,” said Andrew Berenzweig, president of Hylant’s Toledo office.

Risk Strategies Names Jennifer Johnston as Chief Marketing Officer
Risk Strategies, a private insurance brokerage and risk management firm, announced Jennifer Johnston has been appointed to the newly created position of chief marketing officer.
Johnston’s experience includes branding, marketing and communications in the insurance industry, consulting and professional services as well as technology.
“Jennifer is highly experienced, both in marketing and insurance, and we’re excited to welcome her to Risk Strategies,” said Sharon Edwards, chief operating officer.
“She will be instrumental in helping us generate demand for and recognition of the company, its products and services. She will be focusing on integrating and unifying our brand across all channels, enhancing the client experience and value proposition for Risk Strategies’ specialty practices and developing the strategic marketing actions we need to execute as we continue to grow and scale our business domestically and internationally.”
Johnston joins Risk Strategies from CopperPoint Insurance Companies, where she served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
QBE Announces Harpreet Mann as Head of Global Credit & Surety
QBE announced the appointment of Harpreet Mann as head of Global Credit & Surety for its North America division. In this role, she will develop and promote the strategic vision for enhancing the credit & surety book of business in North America.
QBE’s global credit & surety business unit has locations in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, France, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Mann will report to Nicky Ablett, global head of credit & surety, QBE Group, and to QBE North America head of specialty insurance Steve Gransbury.
“Harpreet has been an active leader in this business that consistently reaches across national borders in today’s global economy,” said Ablett.
“Her international mindset, and experience, will be a valuable addition to our global leadership team.”

Goldberg Segalla Adds Nathan R. Young
Goldberg Segalla added associate Nathan R. Young to the firm’s global insurance services group in Greensboro.
Young was previously with Comerford, Chilson & Moser LLP in Winston-Salem.
In his new role, he will focus on counseling and defending insurers in coverage litigation arising under a variety of policies.
He will draw on his broad civil litigation background and assist with all areas of claims handling and litigation, including preparing cases for filing; drafting complaints and written discovery; conducting legal research in preparation for motion hearings; and participating in depositions, hearings and mediations.
Young earned his J.D. at Wake Forest University School of Law.
Guy Carpenter Adds Jeffrey Livingston as Global Head of Sales
Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, a global risk and reinsurance specialist and a business of Marsh & McLennan Companies, announced the appointment of Jeffrey Livingston as global head of sales, effective September 1.
Livingston will also join the Guy Carpenter Executive Committee.
In this newly created role, Livingston will be responsible for leading Guy Carpenter’s sales activities and developing commercial strategies that will help clients realize their business growth goals.
He will report to Peter Hearn, president and chief executive officer.
Livingston brings almost 30 years of industry experience to the role, operating extensively in the brokering arena and across both the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Most recently, he was vice chair, North America at Willis Re and prior to that was director of portfolio solutions at Marsh. Earlier in his career, he also held senior positions at Willis Re after starting his professional journey at Sedgwick Re.
“Demand for reinsurance solutions continues to grow as they become an increasingly strategic component of effective capital management,” said Hearn.

Million Women Mentors’ Women in Insurance Initiative Announces Advisor for DE&I
Million Women Mentors’ Women in Insurance Initiative (WII) announced Dr. Leroy David Nunery II has joined as a senior advisor for diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) and will help the organization work toward a more inclusive space for all within the insurance industry.
A longtime leader in DE&I efforts, Nunery is a founder and principal of the strategic advisory and consulting company, PlūsUltré LLC.
In 2018, he authored The Journey of African-American Insurance Professionals, a study commissioned by Marsh and sponsored by the National African American Insurance Association that provides quantitative and personal insights into the significant deficiencies of opportunity faced by African Americans in insurance.
Nunery has also recently published, “Why aren’t there more Blacks in leadership roles in the Insurance Industry?” along with Susan Johnson, diversity & inclusion officer at The Hartford, to open discussion and seek industry feedback on the under-representation of African Americans in C-Suite and senior level positions.
“Dr. Nunery’s compelling vision for STEM impact in the insurance industry and his practical advice fit beautifully with the mission and message of WII,” said Margaret Resce Milkint, managing partner, The Jacobson Group, and chair of Million Women Mentors’ Women in Insurance Initiative.
