Allied World Appoints Stephen Leeret as SVP/Head of U.S. Programs
Allied World Assurance Company Holding announced that Stephen Leeret has been appointed senior vice president, head of U.S. Programs.
Leerat will be responsible for the strategy, management and underwriting of Allied World’s U.S. Programs division.
“We are very excited to have Stephen leading the team,” said Lou Iglesias, president & chief executive officer, Allied World.
“He will be instrumental in continuing to deliver niche insurance solutions to our Program Administrators.”
Joseph Cellura, president, North America Casualty Division, said, “Stephen has an extensive insurance background with over 29 years’ experience in middle market, special risk and program underwriting, marketing and portfolio management. He will be a great asset as we continue to grow our Programs business.”
Insurance Office of America Adds Two New Hires to Its Western Region Team
Insurance Office of America (IOA) has added two new hires. The first, Theo Goodwell, has joined Western region team as a commercial property and casualty insurance producer. He will be based in its San Diego, California, branch office.
“Theo is a welcomed asset to IOA and is primed to take on new business in addition to his existing book of business,” said IOA Regional President John Tenuto.
Before joining IOA, Goodwell held a position as a broker at Snapp & Associates Insurance Services Inc. in San Diego. He brings over eight years of insurance experience working with most major property and commercial insurance carriers. His focus will be on select commercial business accounts.
The second hire is Stephen Daniel, who also joins the Western region team as an employee benefits consultant. He will be based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before joining IOA, Mr. Daniel was an employee benefits consultant with The Mahony Group for 9 years, an owner/agent for New York Life for 13 years, and served in the United States Marine Corp for 8 years.
“I am thrilled to be partnering with IOA. They have the resources of a large company and the hometown-feel of a small, family-owned insurance group,” Daniel said.
Ken Martino Named 2020-2021 President of Kids’ Chance of America
Kids’ Chance of America announced that its 2020-2021 president is Ken Martino, CPCU.
Kids’ Chance of America is a national nonprofit that supports state organizations providing scholarships to the children of workers who have been seriously or fatally injured on the job. KCOA has a presence in 47 states.
Martino, the president of MedRisk, brings more than 10 years of KCOA board service to the position and recently chaired its finance and grant committees.
“Ken’s business acumen and experience with KCOA make him well qualified to guide the organization, especially in the midst of COVID-19,” said KCOA Executive Director Vicki Burkhart.
“In addition to losing a parent’s income, many of our kids lost their part-time jobs to social distancing restrictions,” Martino said.
“If they’re going to achieve their educational goals, KCOA and our state organizations need new, creative strategies to raise scholarship funds.”
Martino said that technology will play a larger role in fundraising and idea sharing among the chapters amid the Coronavirus pandemic. He cites the national organization’s decision to take its April annual meeting virtual as an example.

David Slaugenhoup Named Vice President of RT ECP
David Slaugenhoup has been promoted to vice president within RT Specialty, LLC’s Environmental and Construction Professional (RT ECP) Practice.
Since joining the team in 2013, Slaugenhoup has worked with RT ECP customers nationwide on daily liability issues, exposures and risks confronting the evolving construction, manufacturing and commercial real estate industries.
Prior to RT ECP, Slaugenhoup over a decade as an environmental industry consultant, serving as the Remedial Investigation Leader/Vapor Intrusion Manager at Kleinfelder, where he managed hundreds of vapor intrusion assessments at residential, commercial and industrial properties.
In addition, Slaugenhoup led the efforts to become the first to obtain site-specific groundwater screening levels from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) using the NJ-specific Johnson & Ettinger model.
