FM Global Promotes Chief Investment Officer to Executive Leadership Team

Sanjay Chawla, chief investment office and executive vice president, FM Global

Commercial property insurer FM Global appointed Sanjay Chawla, the company’s chief investment officer, as an executive vice president.

Chawla’s promotion reflects the strategic contribution he and his investment team have made to the total financial strength of FM Global, according to a press release.

In his expanded role, Chawla will be more involved in strategic corporate initiatives, including collaborations “with an investment lens on the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities,” per the release.

Chawla joined FM Global in 2018 as senior vice president of investments. He was previously the vice president and chief investment officer of Raytheon’s pension investments at Raytheon Company. He also held various leadership roles at The Dow Chemical Company for 18 years at the corporate headquarters in Michigan and also on expatriate assignments in Asia.

International General Insurance Holdings Appoints New Chief Risk Officer

Stav Tsielepis, chief risk officer, International General Insurance Holdings Ltd.

International General Insurance Holdings Ltd. (IGI) recently appointed Stav Tsielepis as chief risk officer of the IGI group.

Based in the company’s London office, Tsielepis will be responsible for administering IGI’s risk management framework including the exposure management and capital modeling functions across the group.

Tsielepis has 18 years’ industry experience and joins IGI from Arch Capital Group’s London-based subsidiary Arch Insurance International, where he was chief risk officer. During his tenure, he was responsible for key projects such as implementing Brexit plans and working closely with regulators, including the Central Bank of Ireland, according to a press release.

He was also a board member of Arch Underwriting at Lloyd’s Australia. Prior to his time at Arch, Tsielepis was an actuarial consultant for Towers Watson Ltd.

“With nearly two decades of experience, Stav joins us in a key senior management role at IGI, bringing a hands-on approach to international risk management and will help us continue to expand and execute our strategic objectives,” said Andreas Loucaides, chief executive officer of IGI UK.

Kinetic Insurance Names Regional Vice President of Business Development

Jose Cruz, regional vice president, business development, Kinetic Insurance

Wearable Insurtech provider, Kinetic Insurance, recently named Jose Cruz as regional vice president of business development with responsibility for leading business development and broker distribution in California, Arizona and Nevada.

Cruz brings more than 15 years of commercial insurance experience in business development, point of sale activities and revenue generation strategies to his new role.

Prior to joining Kinetic, Cruz served as a business development executive with commercial insurance carriers and brokers in the West, including WCF Insurance, Pacific Compensation Insurance Company, Willis and Atlas General Insurance Services.

“Jose brings to Kinetic Insurance both strong and established trading partner relationships with high performing sales producers that represent several of the nation’s Top 100 commercial brokers,” Ronnie O’Dell, vice president, head of distribution & business development, Kinetic Insurance commented.

“This network of producers has come to rely on his knowledge and expertise in placing middle to large accounts, and regularly invite him to co-sell directly with the policy holder.”

Gallagher Bassett Specialty Welcomes SVP and Transportation Practice Leader

Doug Betkowski, SVP and transportation practice leader, major case unit, Gallagher Bassett Specialty

Doug Betkowski joined Gallagher Bassett Specialty as senior vice president and transportation practice leader of the major case unit (MCU), which focuses on severe, complex and high exposure claims.

Serving out of Phoenix, Arizona, he is responsible for the continued growth of the MCU, talent recruitment and market relationships.

Betkowski comes to Gallagher Bassett with more than 35 years in the insurance claims industry. Most recently, he served as the corporate director of claims and litigation at Swift Transportation.

He is a member of the Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA) board of directors. He also serves on the American Law Firm Association (ALFA) client advisory board. &
