Workers’ Comp Medical Professional Price Inflation
The Medical Price Index for Workers’ Compensation (MPI-WC) measures price inflation for medical professional services commonly delivered to injured workers and billed by physicians, physical therapists, and chiropractors. Produced by the Workers Compensation Research Institute, the MPI-WC is developed similarly to the way the U.S. Department of Labor develops the Consumer Price Index for medical care (CPI-M), which tracks the price inflation of all medical services provided to the U.S. population, but has little relevance for tracking the price of care for injured workers.
