Pete Hill and John Russo Assume Chief Underwriting Officer Roles at The Hartford
The Hartford has named Pete Hill as Chief Underwriting Officer of its Small Business unit, replacing John Russo, who now serves as Chief Underwriting Officer for The Hartford’s Global Specialty Wholesale & International business.
Hill will report to Chris Jones, head of The Hartford’s Small Business unit. With more than 15 years of service at The Hartford, Hill brings deep underwriting experience and was instrumental in developing the company’s small business underwriting capabilities. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Small Business Product Management, responsible for The Hartford’s Spectrum line of business. In his new role, Hill will lead small business underwriting strategy and execution, including E&S binding.
Russo will report to Michael Garrison, head of Wholesale & International. With more than 27 years at The Hartford, Russo has built high-performing teams and shaped major strategic initiatives for the enterprise. He most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer for Small Business and Head of Navigators E&S Binding. In his new role, Russo will lead underwriting expansion across Wholesale & International, guiding strategy across global specialty lines including Excess, Property, Inland Marine, Specialty, and Small Business. &
