Neil Cole Appointed as Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Marine at AXA XL

Effective April 1, AXA XL promoted Neil Cole to the position of Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Marine.

Anne Marie Elder, Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Specialty, commented on the appointment, stating, “With a career spanning over more than two decades, a deep knowledge of our industry and the respect he’s earned over the years, Neil is an ideal candidate to support our regional underwriting teams and drive the profitable development of our marine portfolio.”

Cole, who brings 25 years of experience in the marine industry, including a decade at AXA XL, will set the strategic direction and support the development of AXA XL’s Marine portfolios. His new role will be based in London, within AXA XL’s Global Chief Underwriting Office (GCUO), where he will assist with pricing, risk aggregation, and global product strategy.

Before this promotion, Cole served as Global Head of Underwriting Management and Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer, Marine since 2020. His appointment comes at a time when the marine transportation industry is undergoing significant change, with clients exploring new technologies and greener fuel options. &
