Ian Davis Appointed President of Vermont Captive Insurance Association

The Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA), the world’s largest captive insurance trade association, appointed Ian Davis its next president following a national search.
“Ianʼs deep industry knowledge, collaborative style, and proven leadership make him the right person to guide VCIA into its next chapter,” said Gail Newman, chair of the VCIA Board. “We are excited to witness his leadership further align VCIA with the gold standard that is the Vermont Captive Industry.”
Davis succeeds Kevin Mead, who stepped down after four years in the role.
Davis brings more than a decade of expertise in the captive insurance sector. He previously served as senior vice president of captive insurance at M&T Bank and as director of financial services for the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development. A long-time contributor to the association, Davis has served on VCIA’s board of directors, chaired its annual conference, and helped shape its strategic plan. He holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont.
“Iʼm honored to step into this role and build on VCIAʼs legacy of leadership,ˮ said Davis. “As the captive insurance industry continues to evolve, VCIA will serve as a dynamic platform for advocacy, education, and engagement—driven by and for its members.ˮ &
