Elevated Risk for Multiple Job Holders
People who work at more than one job face an elevated risk of injury, both at work and away from their jobs. About 14 million U.S. adults hold down two jobs during a given week. To better understand injury risks associated with multiple jobs, scientists from Liberty Mutual’s Research Institute for Safety reviewed National Health Interview Survey data from 1997 to 2011.
As the graphic above shows they found that multiple job holders experienced a 27 percent higher risk of work-related injuries and a 34 percent greater risk of non-work injuries than do people holding a single job.
