Carbon Underwriting Limited has appointed Phil Wooldridge as head of U.S. casualty and deputy active underwriter, effective Sept. 28, 2026.

“We are delighted Phil is joining Carbon,” said Jacqui Ferrier, CEO at Carbon. “With three decades of experience in building profitable US casualty-focused books of business he will be an asset from day one. His arrival adds considerable strength to Carbon’s senior leadership, while he is fully aligned with our ethos of underwriting discipline combined with technical expertise.”

Wooldridge brings more than 30 years of underwriting experience to the role, most recently serving as head of reinsurance for program solutions at Gallagher Re. He previously held positions as head of London U.S. casualty at SiriusPoint Ltd. and as syndicate chief underwriting officer, reinsurance, at MS Amlin. In his new role, he will grow Carbon’s U.S. long-tail casualty book of business, reporting to chief underwriting officer Rob Crocker.

The appointment follows a significant growth period for Carbon, with a recent equity investment from FTV Capital to support the company’s U.S. expansion. &
