Marsh McLennan Agency Broker Joshua Smith Recognized as a 2025 Workers’ Comp Power Broker
Joshua Smith, Broker, Marsh McLennan Agency
Auto and motor vehicle dealerships face a number of unique workers’ comp risks. Auto technicians might face different kinds of injuries than a salesperson or receptionist. Those risks multiply when you’re dealing with motorcycles.
Broker Joshua Smith has developed somewhat of a niche in this regard. He’s built up a book of Harley Davidson dealerships, building them a consortium to help get better pricing and rates.
“It’s been very helpful for us to have this program for Harley,” one client said. “It was his idea to try to get some better pricing, a little more stability when it comes to renewals when we put them into a consortium.”
Smith is proactive on the employee education front. Dealership employees “drive a lot of vehicles, both by way of [testing the] motorcycles, as well as dropping vehicles off [in] our company trucks,” one client said.
Smith has helped implement training programs and helps companies monitor their employees’ driving records.
“He helped us put together an entire comprehensive prevention as well as education program not only for our employees, but [for] our management team as well,” one client said. “We do test rides everyday, and I’ve got 10 technicians and 10 sales managers on the road three, four, five times a day.”
Clients appreciate Smith’s specialized knowledge, and they truly feel he cares about them and their businesses: “He’s become a bit of a friend, really,” one client said. “He makes you feel like you’re the most important client when he gets on the phone with you.”
