Insurance is a pillar of the economy. Many professionals in this industry agree. Broker Joshua Clark is making waves, in a good way, in addressing the insurance needs of a group of investors that are innovating in the housing sector.
According to a 2025 report by Moody’s Analytics, the United States is experiencing a housing shortage across the nation that ranges from more than one million units to as many as 7 million.
Clark is helping the investors form a captive that will assist them in bringing to fruition an alternative solution to insurance challenges faced within the client’s platform that connects residential property owners, called hosts, with short-term renters, referred to as members.
When first brought to the market, traditional insurers balked at providing coverage for the initiative; thus, Clark’s initiative toward the captive route.
Clark has been successful in arranging a fronting partner and engaging managing general agents to help manage the initiative.
Before becoming a broker Clark was a risk manager and thus is able to place himself, figuratively at least, in his client’s shoes.
“I make an extreme effort to be transparent and not come across as a salesy broker but rather a solution finder,” Clark wrote in his Power Broker application.
