Andrea Pickett, executive director, My Father’s House, knows the stress of being dropped by an insurer. After two large water events, her former carrier decided against the risk, leaving her to figure out her next move.
“I asked every other executive director in rescue missions what they would do, who they would recommend.”
The answer? A resounding “Jon Barron.”
“Jon came in and immediately told me he would find a way to get us covered,” she said. “I think he sat with me on the phone for 30 hours just to go through all the questionnaires and contracts and everything I needed to know to get the best coverages.”
Stephanie Thompson, regional VP of resort operations, Alderwood Colorado Management, was informed her insurance would no longer support the HOAs on her portfolio. She found a friend in Barron: “As our properties were going from a business owner’s policy to layered coverage, the costs increased significantly. Some HOAs were struggling to come to terms with that. Jon helped develop a group policy that we introduced to three of our properties that collectively saved over $1 million in premiums.”
“Jon has been working for nearly a year now to help establish an insurance captive for our association members — at our request — and as we understand it, he will receive less compensation as a result. However, because he knows we will all benefit in the long term, he has been willing to push this forward and frankly spearhead the movement to help us make this transition,” said Justin Hujdic, CFO, Modesto Gospel Mission/Citygate Network.
