Gallagher Broker Amy Kansay Recognized as a 2025 Nonprofit Power Broker

Problems arise in insurance; fiddling around doesn’t help.
When it comes to Amy Kansay, her clients appreciate her for her directness: “She doubles down when I need her and identifies ways to eliminate difficulties and maximize savings. She cuts through the marshmallow and gets to problem solving,” said Josephine Lume, CFO, Henry Street Settlement.
Case in point, this year, Lume needed $10 million worth of umbrella liability coverage for a high-profile event in Manhattan. But the team only signed for a $5 million renewal.
Kansay identified a solution where the team could buy the additional umbrella coverage on an events basis.
“If only one event needs additional coverage, we can buy it on an events basis instead of signing the whole agency for a full year of the extra coverage,” Lume explained. “Amy is very resourceful and always so pleasant and a pleasure to work with.”
Tom Harris, president, Times Square Alliance, reaps the benefits of Kansay’s directness as well. She’s been able to hone this skill into how she markets her clients to carriers, acting as “a bridge” between the two.
“We started as a mom-and-pop shop with handshake deals,” Harris said. “Amy helps us work with city agencies, gets us better contracts by explaining our challenges … she is persuasive and kind. It’s all about relationships for her.
“In the age of ‘Robo-brokers,’ she is the personal touch that embraces relationships with clients,” Harris added. “Amy is new to our account over the last two years, and she did not skip a beat, jumped right in, [and] cared about us from the start.”
