Ahead of the renewal for a Fortune 500 health care company, broker Rebecca Burns helped her client revamp its marketing efforts and communicate proactively with its carriers to assuage any concerns about its internal risk management profile.

“It was strategic in the way she put us in front of our insurers,” the client said. “I feel like the negotiations and the coverage and limits, and everything is a little bit easier when you’re dealing with people you know well.”

Burns also worked with the primary workers’ comp carrier to take the lead layer on an umbrella policy and worked with others to fill in the other layers, so that there were no gaps, resulting in premium savings for her client.

“You don’t see premiums go down,” the client said. “She worked hard to get that.”

For another client, Burns scrutinized its payroll allocation efforts and provided more indepth information — breaking payroll down by entity in addition to state and class — within the submission. That level of detail resulted in thousands in savings in surcharges.

“We are better positioned in terms of our payroll allocation and class coding,” the client said. “She’s learning our business very quickly and taking ownership of our program.”

Clients appreciated Burns’ commitment to customer service and her knowledge of the industry on top of the savings she’s been able to secure for them.

“She is my go-to for every situation,” one client said. “She’s available and always provides great advice.”
