Aon Broker Jason Ricks Recognized as a 2021 At Large Power Broker
Jason Ricks, Senior Broker – Commercial Risk Solutions, Aon
It’s always great when your broker brings good news.
But sometimes, the best you can hope for is getting the bad news early enough that you can plan accordingly.
Jason Ricks’ clients love his ability to set expectations prior to the renewal process, so they can be prepared.
“We knew going into the renewal that it was going to be a challenge, so properly setting expectations from a coverage standpoint, from a budget standpoint, was really helpful,” said one client.
“We needed to get the coverages underneath the excess lined up properly and had to reconfigure how they were structured for a limited retention standpoint to maybe offset some of the increased pricing on the excess umbrella, so we were able to do that.”
Setting expectations is important with the carriers, too.
“We’ve got one carrier that plays very prominently on the programs underneath the excess,” the client said.
“We sat down with that carrier, pre-COVID, and talked through the changes going on with our business, talked through the expectations, and then also said, ‘Look, we might need to structure this a couple of different ways so that we can maximize our excess program.’ Setting those expectations with that market early on was also very helpful in getting to the end game. And then we got to a result that was better than expected. All in all, we were very satisfied.”
