Aon Broker Jason Peery Recognized as a 2024 Hospitality Power Broker
Jason Peery, Executive Vice President, Gaming Practice Leader, Aon
So much has happened in the gaming industry in a relatively short time. Long gone are the days when Nevada casinos were the only place you could legally place a bet on a football game.
With the rapid rise of online gaming, companies needed insurance solutions to comply with state regulations.
Initially, state regulators would only accept cash or letters of credit as collateral in the event that an online gaming company could not make good on its wagers. In thinking that surety bonds might be a way to solve this collateral need for gaming companies, Jason Peery and his colleagues had a steep task ahead of them. Could they convince state regulators that surety bonds were a safe and adequate collateral mechanism?
“It was tough for the first states, but it became easier state by state,” Peery recounts in his Power Broker application.
“We were the first broker to do this. It is now a standard approach to solving the collateral need for each state.”
Creativity and an ability to find solutions are the linchpin of a Power Broker’s qualifications. Not only did Peery accomplish that for his clients, he did it for an entire industry.
“He really is an out-of-the-box thinker,” said Lance Ewing, an insurance veteran who has a background as a risk manager in the gaming industry.
