Aon Broker Cody Kinchen Recognized as a 2023 Manufacturing Power Broker
Cody Kinchen, Senior Broker, Aon
Working under deadline pressure, Cody Kinchen helped a major client consolidate various insurance lines under one carrier and convinced them of the importance of doing motor vehicle reviews.
The client, an Austria-based global manufacturer experiencing tremendous growth in the U.S., was signed just six weeks prior to the expiration of its domestic property and casualty policies.
It was working with a number of regional carriers, but Kinchen recommended a transition to a single national carrier, which provided numerous benefits including broader cover terms, rate reductions as high as 25% and total insurance program savings of more than 13%.
John Geisler, underwriting specialist, middle markets for CNA in Atlanta, said Kinchen also introduced motor vehicle reviews, a standard among companies with auto fleet exposure in the U.S. but unfamiliar to the client, who was opposed to MVRs due to privacy concerns that are more common in Europe, and because it didn’t understand the negligent entrustment exposure in the U.S.
Geisler noted how Kinchen sought to protect the client.
“It took months, but he and his team painstakingly educated and eventually persuaded the client that MVR checks were the right thing to do,” Geisler said.
Geisler added that “Cody was constantly balancing interests, managing relationships, and navigating unique challenges but was able to deliver a best-in-class solution for the client under a demanding deadline. To me, that is the definition of a Power Broker.”
