Aon Broker Carol Stark Recognized as a 2021 Renewable Energy Power Broker
Carol Stark, Renewable Energy Leader, Aon
The boom in wind energy has attracted many new participants.
Some are traditional energy or utility companies with vast assets and resources but little experience in the renewable energy sector.
Others are investors with an even steeper learning curve. The challenges for risk management include regulatory requirements as well as covenants imposed by lenders.
One large client of Carol Stark’s is developing the first off-shore wind farm in an area of the U.S. eastern seaboard.
“Carol has been our go-to broker for consulting on contracting strategy, contractor/owner insurance requirements, U.S. vs. UK indemnity wording, and guidance on marine liability issues,” said the director of risk management.
“Carol has proven her value time and again this year in contractual reviews and negotiations. We feel comfortable that we are going into this project with a sound risk transfer strategy and will be able to avoid issues with gaps in coverage or unknown risks that could trip us.”
Another client sang similar praises for Stark. “We are new to off-shore wind energy,” said the risk manager.
“We have formed a partnership with one of the established companies in that field, which provides guidance and experience, but also complicates the risk management. We are not familiar with the insurance requirements in the field, and Carol has really been a guiding light. We feel protected and prepared.”
