Marsh Appoints Garrett Hanrahan of Global Head of Aviation, Marsh JLT Specialty
Marsh, insurance broker and risk adviser, announced that Garrett Hanrahan has been named as global head of aviation, Marsh JLT Specialty.
The appointment will be effective as of April 15. Hanrahan will take the place of Simon Harker, who is retiring after 44 years in the industry. He will be based out of Dallas and report to Lucy Clarke, president, Marsh JLT Speciality.
Hanrahan joined Marsh in 2013 and has 25 years of experience in the global aviation industry. He most recently served as US Head of Aviation for Marsh JLT Specialty.
He will oversee the aviation practice which advises many airlines, manufacturers, airports and other aviation programs on their insurance and risk management. Marsh’s Global Aviation Practice brings together more than 300 specialists in more than 20 offices worldwide.
“Garrett is an outstanding expert in his field and we look forward to welcoming him to the role,” said Clarke.

Kevin Kelley Joins Aquiline as Executive Advisor
Aquiline Capital partners, a New York and London-based private equity firm, announced Kevin Kelley as its newest executive advisor.
Kelley is a long-time insurance industry executive and most recently served as vice chairman, global risk solutions at Liberty Mutual Insurance before he retired at the end of 2019.
He joined Liberty Mutual following the company’s acquisition of Ironshore Inc., where he was chief executive officer.
Kelley has 40 years of experience in the insurance industry.
“Kevin is well-respected for his experience helping to guide and build businesses in the insurance industry throughout his distinguished career,” commented Jeff Greenberg, chairman and chief executive officer of Aquiline.

ClearPath Mutual Adds Two to Its Board of Directors
ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company, a monoline workers’ compensation insurance carrier, announced the appointment of two new members of the company’s Board of Directors: Jan West and Jeff Borkowski.
West is a member of Goldberg Simpson law firm in Louisville, Kentucky. She represents employers in EEOC claims, discrimination claims, sexual harassment claims, and a broad range of other claims across the employment practices spectrum.
West was selected for inclusion in Kentucky Super Lawyers for 2008-2016, 2019 and 2020, and the Best Lawyers in America for 2020.
Borkowski serves as chief executive officer of ClearPath Mutual. He led the expansion of the company into Tennessee and Indiana.
The company began writing workers’ compensation coverage in Tennessee in 2019, and plans to write workers’ compensation coverage in Indiana by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
Prior to joining ClearPath Mutual, Borkowski held the position of vice president of underwriting and marketing with Brethren Mutual Insurance Company in Hagerstown, Md.
ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company began operations on January 1, 2018, and is domiciled in Louisville, Ky.
Allied World Announces Wes Dupont as the Newest Chief Operating Officer
Allied World Assurance Company Holdings Ltd., a global provider of insurance and reinsurance solutions, announced Wes Dupont as the newest chief operating officer of the Allied World Group.
Dupont has spent the last 17 years with Allied World and played a significant role in driving the company forward.
Dupont will oversee the day-to-day administrative and operational functions across the entire company.
He will also continue to oversee the company’s legal, compliance, claims, human resources, internal audit and procurement functions on a global basis and will remain a member of the Executive Board.
RT Specialty Promotes Hannah Altomare
RT Specialty has promoted Hannah Altomare to account executive within RT Specialty LLC’s Environmental and Construction Professional (RT ECP) Practice.
She is responsible for helping RT ECP’s leadership develop quotes, proposals and presentations as well as negotiating the terms of the organization’s contractor’s construction lines of business.
“Hannah is an integral team member, having assisted in the overall growth of our book of business since joining the team in 2017,” said Tim Farrell, senior vice president of RT ECP.

Leo Kirchner Succeeds Mike Jarrett as CEO of Thomas Miller Americas
After 40 years at Thomas Miller, including 27 years leading Thomas Miller Americas, Mike Jarrett has retired as the company’s chief executive officer and president. He will be succeeded by Leo Kirchner. Kirchner will direct and manage the full range of operations for Thomas Miller Americas.
In addition to building and expanding Thomas Miller America’s market leading service offering, Jarrett is well known for his dedication to philanthropic causes, including the firm’s annual golf day, which has raised a total of $750,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Kirchner commented: “In his 40 years with the business, [Mike Jarrett] has worked tirelessly to make Thomas Miller the industry-leading firm it is today, and I aim to continue his legacy.

Al Miralles Named Executive Vice President & CFO of CNA
CNA announced the appointment of Al Miralles as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective last week. He succeeds James Anderson.
Miralles joined CNA in 2011 as senior vice president, treasurer and head of investments.
In early 2018, he was appointed to the role of executive vice president & chief risk officer of CNA, where he institutionalized the Enterprise Risk Management function across the business units.
Prior to joining CNA, Miralles was the chief financial officer for the investments division of Nationwide Insurance.
“Al has been a tremendous asset to CNA across various leadership roles and, combined with his investment and financial expertise, is an ideal successor for the CFO role,” said Dino E. Robusto, chairman and chief executive officer, CNA.
Dennis DiCapua Appointed Program Division President, Breckenridge Insurance
Dennis DiCapua has been appointed president of Blue River Underwriters, a program division of Breckenridge Insurance Group.
DiCapua has extensive experience throughout his 40 year career in insurance and over the next few months he will work closely with outgoing president Stephen J. Kelley, who will retire later this year.
DiCapua founded a managing general agency, Newport General Agency, that was sold to AmWINS in 2010.
He then served as the executive vice president and chief risk officer of the AmWINS Specialty Auto company. He spent the earlier years of his career focusing on building non-standard auto businesses.

Dennis is an excellent addition to our leadership team as he is extremely knowledgeable and well-regarded in the industry,” stated David A.
