BILTIR Announces Shelby Weldon as Executive Director

Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) named Shelby Weldon as executive director.

In this role, Weldon will be responsible for leading the entirety of BILTIR and ensuring its work coincides with its mission, which is to “advocate for Bermuda’s life and annuity industry.”

Additionally, Weldon will serve the long-term sector and address issues that are of importance to BILTIR members.

Weldon is a seasoned financial services professional with over 30 years of experience in Bermuda financial services.

He most recently served as the senior vice president of Marsh Management Services in Bermuda, where he worked to provide management services to various insurers.

“I am thrilled to welcome Shelby to lead BILTIR,” said BILTIR chair Sylvia Oliveira.

“He is a well-known and well-respected leader in Bermuda’s insurance industry. He understands first-hand the local and international pressures faced by Bermuda’s insurance and reinsurance companies,” she said.

“Shelby’s deep regulatory and industry experience and relationships will be incredibly valuable in advocating for our members.”

Conner Strong & Buckelew Names Senior Vice President of Information Technology

The increased use of technology in the workplace in recent years has provided professionals with the opportunity to increase both productivity and innovation.

In response to this, Conner Strong & Buckelew hired Anil Jampana as senior vice president, chief information officer, a newly created role for its firm.

In this role, Jampana will be responsible for overseeing all technology functions and activities, which include technology operations, data and software development.

He will also manage digital transformation initiatives to “drive business growth and profitability.”

Jampana has worked in the industry and primarily the technology sector for 25 years. Through his years of experience, he has served in several senior level positions.

Prior to joining Conner Strong & Buckelew, he served as president, head of business and product development at an informatics solutions start-up.

“We’ve made tremendous strides in the area of technology and innovation over the last two years and adding a proven talent like Anil only helps us continue on that trajectory,” said Michael Tiagwad, president and CEO of Conner Strong & Buckelew.

Buckle Announces New Head of Strategic Partnerships

Buckle recently announced the hiring of James Camerino as head of strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining Buckle, Camerino served as the chief operating officer of Everest Reinsurance Company, a position he held for over a decade.

He has also served as senior vice president of Munich Resinurance America, Inc.

“We are looking forward to Jim supporting Buckle’s revenue generating go-to-market strategic plan, which includes managing general agents, reinsurance, and mergers and acquisitions,” said Sharon Fernandez, head of Buckle’s Insurance Division.

“His experience is a tremendous asset that will help us expand our capabilities and serve a broader customer base.”

Marsh Appoints Two Hires Within Financial Practices

Marsh announced the hiring of Jacqueline Quintal as U.S. digital asset leader and Matthew McLellan as U.S. directors and officers liability (D&O) product leader.

In her new role, Quintal will be responsible for managing the oversight of the implementation of risk transfer solutions. She is currently a managing director within Marsh’s U.S. financial institutions practice.

In his new role, McLellan will lead D&O strategy for clients while also acting as D&O liaison with insurers on forms, endorsements and manuscript wording. He joined Marsh in 2018 as a FINPRO senior client advisor.

“Jackie brings a wealth of experience in digital asset risk transfer having advised some of the most established financial institutions and early stage fintech, Insurtech, cryptocurrency and blockchain firms,” said Alex deLaricheliere, U.S. financial institutions and professional services industry practice leader at Marsh.

“She is the ideal person to lead Marsh’s US digital asset efforts forward working across Marsh to deliver broad risk understanding and strategic risk transfer solutions to traditional and evolving financial institutions.”
