Risk Strategies Brings on John T. Carson

John T. Carson is coming to Risk Strategies. The company hired him in the role of employee benefits leader for the New England region. He’ll be responsible for spearheading the regional strategy for the employee benefits business segment and driving revenue growth while fostering strong client and market relations. 

Prior to coming to Risk Strategies, Carson served as head of U.S. commercial growth for TELUS Health and as chief revenue officer for Vericred and Flores & Associates. He has more than 20 years of business development and executive leadership experience in the health, retirement, equity compensation and HR/payroll administration spaces. He also has significant sales experience and has created and revitalized go-to-market strategies and improved operational efficiencies. 

“John is an experienced senior executive with a strategic mindset and the ability to successfully execute to meet the needs of both clients and the company,” said John Greenbaum, national employee benefits practice leader with Risk Strategies, in a press release announcing the appointment. 

“He is an early adopter and advocate of new technologies, which is key as the benefits industry continues to evolve and leverage data and analytics to drive buying decisions. We are excited for him to join Risk Strategies and lead our New England region employee benefits team.”

Alok Mathur: Chief Operating Officer for Human Capital at Aon

Aon is bringing on Alok Mathur as its chief operating officer for human capital. He will focus on developing client service strategies and innovation within the firm’s Human Capital business. As part of the position, he will develop a high-level operating model and portfolio strategy that serves human capital leaders.   

“With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Alok is well positioned to deliver operating model efficiency and profitability improvement programs across our human capital business,” said Mindy Simon, chief operating officer for Aon, in a press release.

“Our human capital capability consistently navigates new forms of volatility in an increasingly complex world and helps clients make better decisions. Alok’s insights and new perspective will allow us to provide industry-leading support to our clients.”

Lambros Lambrou, the CEO of human capital for Aon, added, “Alok’s insights will bring new perspectives and ideas to grow and evolve our human capital business. In his role, he’ll leverage our ABS leadership team to develop new strategies [that] will allow us to better serve our human capital clients.”

IOA Names Barrett Charpia Managing Partner

Barrett Charpia has been promoted to managing partner from the position of commercial lines producer at Insurance Office of America. 

Charpia started with the firm in 2017 and has built a substantial client base in the construction, property and transportation industries. The company cited his leadership experience and his commitment to providing tailored risk management programs for his clients as reasons for the promotion.  

“In his time at IOA, Barrett has proven himself to be a great producer and teammate who is always willing to step up as a partner whenever he is needed,” said IOA regional president Andrew Cruse in a press release. 

“Barrett has earned the respect of the underwriting community and the leadership of our key carrier partners as well as his peers and clients. His qualities as a person and natural leadership ability make him a perfect fit to serve as a managing partner and help champion the values of IOA.” 

Charpia will continue to serve in the company’s eastern division in his new role and will increase his commitment to the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office. 

Shannan Fort Hired As International Cyber Product Leader for Marsh

This month, Marsh announced that Shannan Fort would be stepping into the role of international cyber product leader, Marsh Specialty. Her role will focus on supporting the company’s newly created Global Cyber Insurance Center. She will be based in London.

Fort has over 16 years of experience working in the international and cyber insurance space. Most recently, she worked at McGill and Partners, where she served as a partner in the financial lines and cyber business. Prior to that, she was at Aon for 13 years, where she served in a variety of leadership positions, including cyber product development leader.

“Cyber risk remains an urgent, volatile and evolving challenge to our clients’ enterprises and their resiliency; many organizations continue to strive towards building effective and efficient cyber risk mitigation and insurance programs that will protect their people and assets in the event of a critical cyber event,” said Gregory Eskins, Global Cyber Insurance Center leader with Marsh Specialty, in a press release. 

“Shannan will play a central role in advancing cyber risk management and insurance solutions in support of our clients’ need to address these rapidly evolving cyber threats, and capitalize on the possibilities presented by new and emerging technologies.”

Fort’s responsibilities will include product innovation with an emphasis on supporting clients in developing risk management and mitigation efforts for existing and emerging cyber threats. &
