The 2026 Executives to Watch: The Doctors Company’s Deepika Srivastava

Thanks to trends like consolidation, social inflation and physician burnout, the health care sector is facing an increasingly complex web of risks, imperiling the mission of providing quality patient care.

Deepika Srivastava, COO, The Doctors Company

Deepika Srivastava, chief operating officer at The Doctors Company, leverages her 20 years of experience in medical malpractice insurance and technology to recognize the key challenges her clients face and create modern, data-driven solutions. Her previous roles at The Doctors Company include chief information officer, chief information security officer and executive vice president of MPL.

This experience uniquely positions her to drive innovation and technological transformation that today’s physicians need, with efficiency, data security and increased member satisfaction at the forefront. Chief among her accomplishments is driving the modernization of operations with a new digital platform that replaces an outdated legacy system and enhances efficiency across the organization.

“We’ve transitioned from fragmented legacy systems to a unified, cloud-based digital core that powers policy management, billing, claims, and our member portal. This modernization not only streamlined operations but also increased system availability from 67% to 99.99% — ensuring our platforms are always on when our members need us — and strengthened our security posture to protect sensitive health care data,” Srivastava said.

Incorporating automation has also driven faster service for clients and helped to take some work off the plates of busy agents.

“In underwriting, automation has accelerated quoting and removed friction. Our new Quick Quote capability meets a clear market need — converting nearly 30% of submissions into written policies. The result: faster service, higher agent satisfaction, and hundreds of thousands in new premium,” she said.

Embracing AI

Her team is also exploring ways to use AI and machine learning to develop more detailed, accurate and timely risk assessments — an especially useful tool given the constantly shifting nature of the risk landscape in health care. While technological change may sit on the to-do list of many executives, not all are able to actually drive the processes that turn ideas into actions and finished products.

What sets Srivastava apart as a leader is not just her dedication to innovation, but her understanding of how to support her team in generating ideas and turning them into real-life solutions. She helped create and grow the Enterprise Project Office (EPO) alongside her company’s Innovation Team and Data & AI function, driving modernization in patient safety and risk management and serving as an engine for continual change to better support those who care for others.

“Together, these groups have formalized innovation at The Doctors Company through a transparent, accountable process that translates ideas into enterprise solutions. Collectively, they’ve led more than 100 impactful projects, processed over 3,000 business requests, and delivered measurable value by accelerating product launches, improving underwriting accuracy, and enhancing operational efficiency,” she said.

Empowering her team and creating opportunities for others to shine are also traits that mark Srivastava’s character as a leader. She has been an advocate for diversity and inclusion within the medical malpractice insurance sector, offering mentorship to women professionals and ensuring opportunities for advancement.

“Our culture continues to invest deeply in people. We mentor, promote, and, most importantly, listen. At The Doctors Company, culture and transformation are inseparable,” she said. &
