Leadership Changes Announced for The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers
Effective July 1, Ken A. Crerar, chief executive officer of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (The Council), will transition to the role of executive chair. Joel Wood, the current Council president, will be appointed as president and CEO.
Crerar, reflecting on his tenure, said, “I’ve had a truly unique opportunity to dream and build new things alongside the brightest and most talented people in my industry. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
Crerar has served The Council for over 35 years, leading it since 1992. His dynamic and forward-thinking leadership has resulted in the creation of many new programs and opportunities for the brokerage sector. He facilitated the merger of two broker-centric associations into The Council, created The Council Foundation, and built The Council Academy.
Wood, who previously served as senior vice president of government affairs, has been with The Council since 1993. He has been involved in a range of complex issues impacting insurance brokerage at both the federal and state level.
Wood expressed his readiness for the new role, stating, “It is a high bar to succeed Ken, but he has put into place a deeply talented team of professionals who I respect and admire. My aim is to continue to marshal that professionalism to deliver value to our members, and enable them to best serve their clients in a challenging and rapidly-changing economic environment.” &
