Underwriting his risk exposure was difficult in 2024, said one director of finance, because of significant divestitures his company had made. “Minimum premium came into play with some markets declining to underwrite,” said the director.
“Kyle [Ginsburg] was able to shift our policy to the Lockton facility in London, providing significant cost savings and better coverage.” He also shifted the renewal cycle, butting a two-month extension against an 18-month renewed policy.
“The new policy had a slight increase of 5%, which we considered a positive result, because it covered two windstorm seasons,” said the director. As one client was approaching the renewal of its property package, it had a significant claim.
“Kyle orchestrated the strategy and communication between us and the markets to extend the timeline for renewal and properly factor in new data from the recent claim,” said the CEO.
“As a result, both our firm and the underwriters were able to decide on a constructive policy for the next year.”
One CFO related how his firm “switched to Lockton after many years with an incumbent broker. We charged Kyle with reviewing and reworking our property program. Our primary concern was a seven-figure deductible on coverage for one particular set of assets. Kyle significantly improved the program, including 180% quoted capacity, with 125% offering better deductible than the previous carriers. Two-thirds of that capacity came from new markets. That reduced our deductible by more than $3 million.”
