Conner Strong & Buckelew Broker Andrew Wagner Recognized as a 2024 Technology Power Broker
Andrew Wagner, Partner, Managing Account Executive, Conner Strong & Buckelew
The College Board wasn’t climbing Mount Everest. Nevertheless, the nonprofit had a trusted guide in Andrew Wagner as it spent time analyzing changes to its cyber and professional liability.
“We really felt like we had a sherpa, an expert to take us to the top of this mountain,” said Peter Schwartz, chief legal and risk officer for the College Board, which administers the SAT and other educational tests. “There was no point at which we thought, ‘Gosh, I wonder if we should get another opinion or if there’s somebody else who could add to this or who would know more.’ We just felt like we were in great hands with him.”
There also was no point at which Schwartz felt rushed by Wagner. “You have the expert there who’s going to help you, and the only interest he has is your best interest. He’s not going to force some solution on you,” Schwartz said.
For another client, a chemicals manufacturer, Wagner helped navigate issues that arose from an insurer’s requirements for fire suppression. Compliance with the requirements posed a challenge for the company’s manufacturing process, while noncompliance would have threatened the company’s property program, according to a financial executive who handles risk management for the company. Wagner negotiated a successful resolution after bringing in outside engineers to help reassure the carrier about the approach the company was taking. “He’s obviously always our advocate,” the executive said. But Wagner makes the case in a way that brings parties toward a common goal.
