RIMS names a 2020 Risk Manager of the Year, Marsh appoints a new global leader of multinational client service in this edition of People on the Move.

Venbrook Names Sonia Ahuja Chief Operations Officer

Venbrook Group, LLC, a holding company with subsidiaries in retail and wholesale brokerage, program and claims management, and third-party administration, has named Sonia Ahuja as chief operations officer.

Ahuja will be responsible for producing growth through organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions and partnerships. She will oversee operations efficiencies and margin improvements for the company and its subsidiaries.  

Most recently, she served as chief operating officer at Farmers Financial Solutions. Prior to joining Farmers, she was head of business development at BrightScope and chief strategy officer at First Allied Securities. She earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary. 

“Sonia brings over 20 years of experience and a strong record of accomplishments,” said Jason Turner, chief executive officer of Venbrook.

“We are excited she has chosen Venbrook as her new home to lead the firm’s strategy and execution across the insurance retail, wholesale, and TPA business platform,” he added.

Marsh Appoints David Rahr to Global Leader of Multinational Client Service

Marsh has announced that David Rahr has been appointed as global leader, Multinational Client Service. Based in Chicago, he will report to Flavio Piccolomini, president, Marsh International, and Martin South, president, US and Canada.

In this role, effective April 15, Rahr will oversee Marsh’s Multinational Client Service team of 1,200 specialists who provide global insights and strategic risk advice to multinational companies of all sizes across 130 countries. Rahr most recently served as Risk Management Segment Leader for Marsh’s US Central Region, where he oversaw the delivery of industry-leading transactional and risk advisory services to many of the world’s largest multinational organizations.

 “As evidenced by the global Coronavirus pandemic, multinational clients are operating in a complex, interconnected environment where strategic insights and advice are vital to managing their risks on a global scale,” said Piccolomini. 

 “David is a passionate leader and client advocate with a strong track record for delivering complex global programs,” South added. “He is the right choice to lead the MCS team and further enhance our ability to support our multinational clients with cutting-edge risk solutions.”

Rahr succeeds Justin Walsleben, who retired from the firm.

Roxsann Wilson of Cardinal Health Named 2020 RIMS Risk Manager of the Year

RIMS, the risk management society®, annointed Roxsann Wilson, Vice President of Risk Management for Cardinal Health, as the 2020 RIMS Risk Manager of the Year. The 2020 Risk Management Honor Roll inducted Jane Sandler, Vice President, Global Risk Management for McKesson Corp.

 “Global business risks are driving organizations to place greater emphasis on fostering robust risk management strategies that not only identify cost-saving opportunities but also contribute to the successful implementation of innovative processes, technologies and revenue-generating initiatives,” said RIMS CEO Mary Roth. “Roxsann Wilson’s accomplishments embody this and personify the ingenuity, expertise and tenacity required of today’s risk professional. We are proud to announce her as the 2020 RIMS Risk Manager of the Year.

The Risk Manager of the Year program is intended to raise the profile of the risk management profession and the outstanding programs the honorees have implemented within their organizations. The initiative was implemented in 1977.

Vijaya Singh Named Global Head of Marketing and Communications, Guy Carpenter

Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, global risk and reinsurance specialist and division of Marsh & McLennan Companies, announced Vijaya Singh as the newest global head of marketing and communications.

Based in New York, Singh will lead Guy Carpenter’s branding, public relations, executive thought-leadership, digital marketing and internal communications efforts globally.

Singh joins Guy Carpenter from Russell Reynolds Associates, a global executive search and leadership advisory firm, where she served as global head of external marketing and public relations. Prior to joining Russell Reynolds, she held various roles at Broadridge Financial Solutions and ABI Marketing (now Finn Partners).

 Markel Names Two New Marine Underwriters 

Nitin Marathe, marine underwriter, Markel India

Danielle Yu, marine underwriter, Markel Hong Kong

Markel International, a specialist insurer, has recently appointed two marine underwriters, Nitin Marathe and Danielle Yu, for the India and Hong Kong office respectively.

Marathe joined Markel India in February 2020. He has 20 years of experience in aviation and marine industries, specializing in marine hull and machinery, as well as ports and terminals placements. 

Prior to joining Markel India, Marathe was the vice president of Marsh India’s aviation and marine underwriting team. In addition to that role, he oversaw the risk management and strategic business development in the market. 

Yu joined Markel in Hong Kong in March 2020. She has over ten years of experience in all lines of marine underwriting in the Hong Kong and East Asia market, including cargo, hull and liability. 

In her previous role, Yu was a senior marine underwriter at Navigators Asia.

Marathe and Yu will be responsible for developing Markel’s Asia marine underwriting expertise in the Indian and Hong Kong markets respectively, working closely with Colin Fordham, Director of Markel in Asia and leader of Markel’s growing marine presence in the region.
