Gain direct insight into how risk managers and safety professionals created some of the most successful programs in the nation in this roundtable discussion featuring winners of the 2018 Risk & Insurance® Teddy Award.

10:45 – 11:45 / InsurTech, Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies Impacting the Claims World

Jeff White of Gallagher Bassett will demonstrate how insurers currently apply InsurTech and tools like artificial intelligence, highlighting their potentially disruptive impact on risk management and claims over the next three to five years, including how risk managers’ and claims professionals’ work will evolve.

1:45 – 2:45 / The Opioid Epidemic — Who’s at Fault and How to Mitigate Liability

Presenters Denise Algire and Joe Paduda will detail how employers and claims payers can reduce injured-worker opioid usage, prevent addiction and reduce their exposure to liability like that faced by pharmaceutical companies. They’ll discuss policies and practices called for as well as those that may increase liability exposure.

3:00 – 4:00 / Diversity’s Impact on Claims Handling, Claims Results and the Bottom Line

Diversity can impact why claims are filed, how they are managed and possibly the end result. Meanwhile, diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias play roles before an injury, during claim management and can drive trial outcomes and resolution. Attorney Martine Cumbermack will provide strategies for effective communication with the worker, employer and claims handlers, as well as discuss why diversity and inclusion are important in the claims management business.
